Senate Republicans’ Reactions to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization

July 24, 2022

DOVER, DE – On Friday, June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court of the United States issued its decision in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization (Dobbs) case. The ruling overturned Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

Below is the statement from the Senate Republican Caucus, as well as individual statements from Senator Colin Bonini (R-Dover) and Senator Bryant Richardson (R-Seaford).

Caucus – “Today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling is historic. By overturning Roe v. Wade, each state’s legislature now has the ability to decide whether abortion should be permitted or not. We stand for life and applaud the Supreme Court for this decision.”

Senator Bonini – “I completely support this long overdue decision as Roe v. Wade was clearly unconstitutional from its inception. Giving the decisions back to the people’s representatives in individual states is obviously where our Founding Fathers would want them.

“I am unapologetically pro-life. I hope Delaware and other states will do the right thing and protect the unborn.”

Senator Richardson – “50 years of prayers were answered this morning when the U.S. Supreme Court finally overturned Roe v. Wade. This is a major victory for life and I applaud the six brave justices who refused to cave to the violent pressure they faced.”
