DOVER, DE – On Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the Delaware General Assembly passed Senate Concurrent Resolution 72 (SCR 72).
Introduced by Senator Dave Lawson (R-Marydel) and Senator Trey Paradee (D-Dover) in the Senate, and Representative William Carson (D-Smyrna) in the House of Representatives, SCR 72 congratulates the 2022 Eagle Scouts for attaining the highest rank one can earn in the Boy Scouts of America.
“Each year, I have the honor to sponsor this resolution and welcome Delaware’s Eagle Scouts and their families to Legislative Hall,” Sen. Dave Lawson said. “These Scouts are already leaders in their communities and will positively impact our society for years to come.”
To achieve the Eagle Scout rank, one must have obtained and advanced through the preceding Boy Scouts ranks. The prospective Scout must then fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor preparedness.
“It’s not always easy for a young person to find a place in the world where they can work toward self-improvement while also finding a sense of community among their peers,” said Sen. Trey Paradee. “Scouts are taught to strike the balance between bravery and kindness; leadership with teamwork. I applaud this year’s Scouts on their achievements and encourage them to carry the lessons they have learned from scouting into their adult lives.”
80 Delawareans achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 2022. Many, including members of their families, attended a reception hosted by Senator Lawson prior to session at Legislative Hall.
“We congratulate the 2022 Delaware Eagle Scouts on such an outstanding accomplishment! Becoming an Eagle Scout is no small task. It requires years of hard work, countless hours of community service, and a commitment to bettering themselves and their communities,” said Rep. William Carson. “These young leaders’ commitment to excellence and service sets them apart, and I have no doubt that they will continue to achieve remarkable things.”
SCR 72 passed both the Senate and House of Representatives unanimously.
